AP: USC QB Barkley has sprained ankle

Southern California coach Lane Kiffin hopes Matt Barkley will play against Notre Dame after X-rays on the quarterback's sprained left ankle showed no broken bones. Barkley missed the second half of the Trojans' embarrassing 36-7 loss at Oregon State with a high ankle sprain, but Sunday's X-rays improved Kiffin's mood.
