ESPN: Gamecocks riding Lattimore

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- It was no secret that South Carolina wanted to get freshman running back Marcus Lattimore more involved than it did two weeks ago at Auburn.

The Gamecocks’ opening drive was an indication that Steve Spurrier is serious about riding his freshman.

Lattimore touched the ball three times in the Gamecocks’ touchdown drive, including the 9-yard touchdown catch. He’s extremely effective catching the ball out of the backfield, which is an area the Gamecocks may exploit even more this game.

In the 35-27 loss to Auburn, Lattimore only ran the ball three times in the second half.
