Stiff Arm Trophy

Week 6: Jones replaces Wilson in top two

Posted on October 14, 2011 in News.

A week after Wisconsin QB Russell Wilson found himself atop the Heisman standings alongside Stanford QB Andrew Luck, this time it's Oklahoma QB Landry Jones's turn. Luck, in fact, appeared in 100% of the top-12 watch lists of participating Heisman voters. Jones was on 98% of watch lists.

The rest of the top 7 remained the same, albeit a bit scrambled. Boist St QB Kellen Moore slipped ahead to the #3 spot - pushing Michigan QB Denard Robinson down to #4, followed by Wilson at #5, then Alabama RB Trent Richardson at #6, and Baylor QB Robert Griffin III at #7.

Big moves upward came from Houston QB Case Keenum (up three spots to #9) and USC WR Robert Woods (up three spots to #17). Clemson QB Tajh Boyd dropped three spots to #14, and Notre Dame WR Michael Floyd dropped five spots to #20.

Oklahoma WR Ryan Broyles returned to the top 20 at #15 and Alabama LB Dont'a Hightower debuted this week at #16. West Virginia QB Geno Smith also returned to the top 20 at #20.

USC QB Matt Barkley, Wisconson RB Montee Ball, and Oregon QB Darron Thomas all dropped out of the Stiff Arm Trophy top 20.

56 actual Heisman voters from 29 states participated in this week's StiffArmTrophy.com poll. The poll asked voters to share an unranked top-12 "watch list" for the Heisman Trophy.
