ESPN: USC Trojans RB Buck Allen an official Heisman contender
USC running back Buck Allen has been informed he's "a potential candidate" for the Heisman Trophy.
In a form letter to Allen dated last week, the award's executive director, Rob Whalen, wrote Allen's "outstanding play" has elevated him to candidacy and explained the selection process.
It's not clear how many players received a similar letter, but it's got to be a pretty long list. Allen is having a great season for the Trojans -- he's rushed for 1,124 yards and eight touchdowns -- but it would take a powerful imagination to conjure up a scenario in which Allen ends up ...
