Fanhouse: Virginia Tech, Christian Ponder Top ACC Preseason Vote

Filed under: Fresno State, Virginia Tech, ACCGREENSBORO, N.C. -- Florida State will be back, but Virginia Tech will be even better, according to the league media vote at the preseason football kickoff.

The Hokies received 50 first-place votes for the ACC championship, easily outdistancing the second-place Seminoles.

However, Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder was the big winner in preseason player of the year voting. Ponder, who has been touted by the ACC as a Heisman candidate, received 45 votes, beating out Ryan Williams and Tyrod Taylor of Virginia Tech.
