Fanhouse: Mark Ingram Has Knee Surgery, Will Miss Alabama's Opener

Filed under: Alabama, SEC, InjuriesAlabama's national title defense opens Saturday with a home date against San Jose State. It doesn't sound like a big deal, given that the Spartans went 2-10 last year and have a new coaching staff.

Alabama does have to deal with a hiccup heading into the opener.

Well, at least the Crimson Tide hopes it's a hiccup.

Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram won't be in the Alabama backfield Saturday. The school confirmed Tuesday that Ingram suffered a knee injury in practice Monday and had surgery Tuesday morning.
